It is Ebook Week!

It is Ebook Week and I just won one of Trina M Lee's Books!  She let me choose which one I wanted and I chose Lyric's Gift. The main character is a burlesque psychic, so you know I'm just not going to get anything else done until I've read it!  I'll let you know what it is like!

My World of Writing

It has been a long time, but I'm back to story-writing again.  For many years, I was so run down and tired all the time, I just couldn't do it.  I recently found out I have several vitamin deficiencies due to anemia and getting that worked out has finally made me feel human in my own skin again.  It is still a challenge to find the time and energy while raising 3 little ones & running the family daycare, but I find that writing is a great outlet.  Letting the words flow out is a really good feeling, like finally releasing the flood gates on a dam.

I'm still trying to figure out what works best with supervising little kids.  Carrying around the laptop lets me type, but when I pop up to help a kid another tends to poke at the laptop or it gets bonked, stepped on, etc.  Writing at the desktop computer is pretty much limited to nap-times and after bedtime.  I'm currently experimenting with jotting notes and ideas in a paper notebook and then being able to expand and flow when I get a chance to actually type.

My current project is a coming of age story, set in a near future environment and the main character is a 16 year old girl.  My writing topics and style are generally young adult, contemporary fiction while my favourite genre to read is completely different- dystopic science fiction.  This new project is still written for teens and young adults as it is pretty heavy with the teen angst, but I'm totally excited to try my hand out at writing science fiction. No spaceships or aliens yet as I'm just not sure yet just how science fiction fantasy I will be comfortable exploring in my own writing.
